Bio - Natalie Rouse
Hi, I am Natalie Rouse, an accomplished nutritional research scientist, registered nutritionist (AFN 11269), and exercise physiologist with over 20 years of experience. I expertly blend my extensive knowledge of human nutrition and nutritional biochemistry with practical expertise in lifestyle interventions, sports performance, dietary planning, and food industry regulation.
Throughout my career, I have led and contributed to various projects with Innovate UK, the Welsh Government, and European initiatives. My work aims to bridge the gap between academia and impactful population health, where I have played a vital role in developing and implementing intervention frameworks to tackle nutritional deficiencies across different life stages.
Currently, I serve as the Nutrition Research Lead for BIC Innovation and NutriWales (the Welsh Government’s Nutrition R&D cluster).
I am also a doctoral scholar at Swansea University, where I am researching the relationship between ultra-processed foods and eating behaviour.
I am dedicated to advancing research and innovation in sustainable, nutritious diets to combat lifestyle-related diseases and foster lifelong physical and mental well-being. As a consultant, I provide my expertise in nutritional research, ingredient analysis, metabolomics, food law, and formulation to a diverse range of businesses, from small enterprises to global brands.
My personal lifestyle reflects my passion for fitness and nutrition, as I am also a competitive bodybuilder.
